The Strokes

The strokes are American 5 pieces rock band formed in 1999. It is often that they are told as a representative band of the garage rock revival movement in 2000's. They take out three albums so far, and all of them are delicate and high quality. There are many bands which are affected from Strokes. They have in particular many influences on the UK garage lock / post punk band of 2000's such as Franz Ferdinand or Arctic Monkeys. I love their rock voice and the behavior on the live. “You Only Live Once” which is in their third album is my favorite song.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Do you know Red Hot Chili Peppers? They are called “Re­-chili” in Japan. They are worldwide popular rock band from California. They are one of the bands called the mixture lock which mixed a funk and hip-hop with punk rock or hard rock. Speaking of a guitarist of them, an impression called John Frusciante is strong, but there was another guitarist in the past when he joined the band. His name is Hillel Slovak. In June 1988, he was died by excessive heroin intake. His guitar play gave initial band sound color. And I respect each guitarist. And the set piece of my band of this week is their music.

Carole King

I introduced a male artist till now, but want to introduce Carole King, a female artist, this time. She is an American singer-songwriter.
Do you know her work called “Tapestry”? It is her best masterpiece, and conquests 4 branches of Grammy award. In addition, it is loved by many people, and an excellent record of the history recording a wonderful hit more than a total of 22,000,000 pieces all over the world now. And I have it too.
I love rock music, but I think this work has something which was beyond the music of various genres. She has the charm that gives all people spirit. Please listen to it once by all means.

Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson is a musician from United States of America Hawaii Oahu. Comfortable harmony and the soft air feeling of the acoustic guitar are characteristics of his sound. He caused a new idea in the surf music scene where a hard core punk was the subject till then. In addition, being a surfer, a movie director, a businessman, a producer, he shows various talents as well as a musician. He started to devote himself to music since he experienced a serious accident during surfing at the age of 17. The 1st album "brush fire fairy tales" in 2001 recorded a world-beater of the million sales in United States. I came to like him at the moment when I heard his music for the first time. I love the rhythm that is carved with like a wave and the voice that is gentle like wind!

Ａｅｒｏｓｍｉｔｈ

I’d like to introduce “Areosmith,” an American rock band. The album which I bought for the first time was a work of Aerosmith. I think their most famous works in Japan are "Walk this way," which used in a commercial of Softbank, and “I don’t want to miss a thing,” which is main theme music of Armageddon. They build the first golden age in 1970's, but are sluggish by a drug and the problem of human relations in the first half of 1980's. All the members are hospitalized for a drug in the rehabilitation facilities. They achieved rare revival in history of lock and got the second golden age which exceeds 1970's commercially afterwards. The total sales of the album are said more than 150000000 pieces universally now! However, I am very sad that news that Steven Tyler of the vocal may withdraw from "Aerosmith" spreads now. I wish that it is a lie.

The Ramones

The Ramones were an American rock band often regarded as the first punk rock band. All of the band members adopted pseudonyms ending with the surname "Ramone", though none of them were actually related. They were a major influence on the punk rock movement both in the United States and the United Kingdom. They used just four chords and one manic tempo. Their genius was to recapture the short and simple aesthetic from which pop had strayed. The albums from first album to third album are estimated as an important album left in the rock history.

David Bowie

David Bowie is a musician, actor and record producer. In England, he is one of the rock stars representing the U.K. in 20th century.
He was born in Brixton, London. When he was 15 years old, his friend punched him in the left eye during a fight over a girl. As a result of the injury, he almost lost eyesight of his left eye. In 1972, he released 『Ziggy Stardust』, a concept album, and he established the position as the representative musician of the gram lock. A common musician tends to dislike a change, but he repeats a change of bold music. When I listen to his music, I be drawn into his world, and I lose sight of reality.
